COVID-19 Policy

Provision of Care during staff illness

As staff are required to stay home /isolate when exhibiting illness symptoms, in the event that the staff at Mommy’s Daycare are ill with COVID-19 symptoms, families will be notified as quickly as possible and will be required to stay home until the staff COVID-19 test has returned with a negative result, and isolation is no longer required.

Illness and Attendance

Children may not attend Mommy’s Daycare if they exhibit any COVID-19 symptoms.

Key symptoms of COVID-19 include:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Loss of sense of smell or taste
  • Difficulty breathing

Other symptoms may include:

  • Sore throat
  • Loss of appetite
  • Extreme fatigue or tiredness
  • Headache
  • Body aches
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

Children may show symptoms differently than adults. For example, fatigue may show in children as poor feeding, decreased activity, or changes in behaviour.

Children MUST be fever-free and symptom-free for 48 hours before returning to child care. Children must not have had any diarrhea or vomiting within the past 48 hours before returning to child care.

If there is a person in the home who is COVID-19 positive, the child is unable to attend Mommy’s Daycare as long as the household member is considered COVID-19 positive.

If there is a person in the home who is ill with COVID-19 symptoms, the child is unable to attend Mommy’s Daycare until the ill person has received a negative COVID-19 test.

There are no exceptions to this illness policy. This policy will be remaining in place indefinitely. As such, parents are encouraged to think through how they will work from home/care for children who are required to stay home until they are symptom-free.

Individuals residing in the household with any child attending Mommy’s Daycare are to be taking all precautions possible to limit their exposure to COVID-19. We strongly encourage all parents and guardians to get their COVID-19 Vaccination as soon as it is available to them.

Arrival

Parents are not currently allowed to access inside our facility. Drop off and pick up will occur outside of the Mommy’s Daycare entrance.

Parents exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms may not drop off or pick up their child.

Please ensure to physically distance yourself a minimum of 6 feet from other children or parents in the event you are at the entrance at the same time as others.

Cleaning and Sanitation

Following the current health authority guidelines for sanitization and care:

  • our inside classroom disinfected once per day using a health authority approved sanitizer, which is a bleach, alcohol or quat-based solution. We respect that some families prefer us not to use these, and feel they are “unnatural” cleaning products. We will be following the BC CDC and the Fraser Health Authority directives in this area.
  • The diaper change table is sanitized after every use
  • Child and staff hands are washed with soap and water upon arrival to Mommy’s Daycare, prior to eating, and after toileting.
  • Nap bedding is washed weekly.

Health Check

Parents are expected to complete a health review of their child at home. This health check should confirm that the child has no illness or covid symptoms, and has no fever.

In the event that a parent is found to be not providing honest health transfer information, not completing a daily health check, withholding important medical information such as COVID-19 exposures, child care will no longer be provided to that family.
